Valt. Sup. Sassella Riserva D.O.C.G. 2016
Special features: the Nebbiolo “Chiavennasca” grapes come from the “Sassella” area of Valtellina Superiore Docg. We are at the gates of Sondrio, in the municipalities of Castione Andevenno and the provincial capital itself, as well as some small "fractions" located at an altitude ranging between 400 and 500 meters above sea level. The vineyards of this area benefit more, compared to those of the other areas, from the positive influence of the "breva", the typical wind coming from Lake Como, dry and temperate, which acts as a "thermoregulator" not only for the Sassella but also for the rest of the vineyard area.
Produced in Italy - Contains sulfites - Alcohol content: 13,50%
Awards: Asti Douja d'Or Silver Medal; Silver Medal Mondial des Vins Extremes / Cervim Valle d'Aosta; Wine Hunter Silver Award Merano Wine Festival; Wine Enthusiast magazine (review); Acknowledgments and evaluations from the main sector guides: AIS “Vitae”; Viniplus AIS Lombardy; Gold Guide Veronelli's Wines; Vinibuoni d'Italia Guide; Paolo Massobrio's Golosario; Essential Guide to Italian Wines by Daniele Cernilli.
History: like all our Riservas, coming from the "historic" areas of Valtellina Superiore Docg, it is one of the wines have made the history of Cantina Nera. Its production practically began parallel to the greater commercial development of Valtellina viticulture, dating back to the 1960s in particular.

Why buy it: because it is a wine which, reflecting the characteristics of the area from which it comes, has an intense and complex aroma, deriving from the perfect combination of hints of dried flowers, ripe red fruit and balsamic notes. Vibrant and refined on the palate, being a Nebbiolo, but at the same time characterized by roundness and softness. The ideal product to "approach" Valtellina and its wines. Ready to "excite" you immediately .... as well as to be carefully "kept" over the years, having a long aging potential and promising to amaze you even more after having given it the right "time" for evolution.
