Valt. Sup. Inferno Riserva "Al Carmine" D.O.C.G. 2017
Special features: the Nebbiolo “Chiavennasca” grapes come from the “Inferno” area of Valtellina Superiore Docg. The name says it all…. we are in the smallest area of the denomination, just over 50 hectares where the slopes of the Valtellina vineyard are close to 75%, therefore the exposure of the dry-stone walls to the sun obviously has a greater effect, creating truly "infernal" temperatures, in particular during the summer season.
Produced in Italy - Contains sulfites - Alcohol content: 13,50% vol.
Awards: Silver medal Mondial des Vins Extremes / Cervim Valle d'Aosta; Douja d'Or Asti Gold Medal; Wine Hunter Silver Award Merano Wine Festival. Recognitions and evaluations from the main sector guides: AIS “Vitae” ; Viniplus AIS Lombardy; Gold Guide Veronelli's Wines; Vinibuoni d'Italia Guide; Paolo Massobrio's Golosario; Essential Guide to Italian Wines by Daniele Cernilli.
History: “”Al Carmine” is the name that Caven Vini wanted to give to its Valtellina Superiore Docg Inferno Riserva. It takes its name from a characteristic sanctuary which stands on a panoramic hill surrounded by the vineyards of the area. Inside the building, of seventeenth-century origin (it was consecrated in 1651), a statue of the Madonna del Carmine was placed in a niche of the high altar, to which many faithful would turn for their prayers in the years to come, obtaining many thanks.

Why buy it: also produced only in the best years, in limited quantities and with grapes that come exclusively from the vineyards owned by Caven Vini. It is a wine of character, without compromise, "vertical" like the dry stone walls on which the vineyards are located, warm, mineral, enveloping but always austere, savory and harmonious like all the Nebbiolos of Valtellina. Caven Vini is also the company that, in Valtellina, has the largest ownership of vineyards in the "Inferno" area, so this wine too can be considered one of the most important of the entire company production.
